A Fool For You
“Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes!”
2 Samuel 6:22a
My Takeaways
Something Old
Throw caution to the wind, dance and leap before the Lord today. You only need an audience of One.
Something New
2 Samuel 6:16 says that as Michal watched David leaping and dancing before the Lord she was filled with contempt. The word contempt means regards anything considered mean, vile, or worthless; the state of being despised. It is hard to believe her feelings went so deep.
Something to Do
Pray for all the Michals.
Wendy, I loved the worship music!
My Takeaways: David sings and dances for the Lord
Something Old:Not sure if I should feel sorry for Michal or upset. I’m sure the life that she had endured made her bitter. But she is beginning to look a lot like her father, having no true relationship with the Lord. If she would have only taken her bitterness to the Lord, He would have certainly turned it into something good. What a wasted life when one is not in tuned with God.
Something New: 1 Chronicles 16 David’s Song of Praise
Unlike Michal David knew how by praising God and recognizing His goodness, he could take his focus off himself and truly give God all the glory. David was able to bring excitement of thanksgiving to all the people. He allowed the people to remember what God had done and opened their hearts and minds back to where they should be. Something that had begin to disappear during Sauls reign. What a great day this must have been! David was truly thankful and remembered to give credit where credit was due. He did not care how foolish he may of looked to others because his heart was truly thankful.
Something To Do: Develop a practice of giving praises to God. Don’t be afraid to worship God with whatever expressions seem appropriate. When I am truly thankful my life will show it. When I take the focus off my problems and give my praises to God His power, mercy and love will come through.
