 Saul’s Epitaph

So, Saul died because he was unfaithful to the LORD.  He failed to obey the LORD’s command, and He even consulted a medium instead of asking the LORD for guidance.  1 Chronicles 10:13-14a

Wendy desires to be faithful and succeed.

  1. My Takeaways: David cleans up Saul’s mess again

Something Old: Remember awhile back when the Lord asked Saul to destroy all the Amalekites? They are back! Look at the results of Saul’s disobedient. They destroy Ziglag, and carried off all the women and children and everyone else but without killing anyone.

Something New: The Lord put David in charge of what Saul would not do. “And the Lord told him, “Yes, go after them. You will surely recover everything that was taken from you!” David trusted God and asked him for direction. God used the Amalekites slave to lead David and his men. Saul’s mistake (not killing all the Amalekites) not only hurt him, but generations later, his disobedience still impacted others. David wipes these people out for good and we never hear from them again. David begins his reign where Saul should have began his. God was faithful to His earlier promise. If only Saul had done what was asked of him-this mess could have been avoided.

Something To Do: Turn to God in times of crisis. Wait on the Lord. Treat everyone I meet with respect and dignity. I never know how God will use them to help me or haunt me, depending upon my response to them.
