Revenge Is Served By The Lord
This is what the LORD of the Heaven’s Armies has declared: I have decided to settle accounts with the nation of Amalek for opposing Israel when they came from Egypt.
1 Samuel 15:2
My Takeaways
Something Old
The hardest thing about being a Christian is trying to be a vessel of the Living God while in human skin.
Something New
Wanting revenge or being caught in the wait for God’s justice can:
- Robs us of our freedom in Christ
- Ruins our effectiveness in His Kingdom.
- Re-purposes our purpose.
- Shackles us to our pain.
Something to Do
Don’t live my life waiting for the moment of redemption for my pain.
My Takeaways: Saul is rejected by God
Something Old: God does not tolerate disobdience. Saul continues in his failing ways.He rejected God’s word and built a monument for himself. He’s still blaming others for his mistakes and continues to want all the glory and attention on him. Saul is evil and doesn’t have a heart for God.
Something New: “I am sorry that I ever made Saul King, for he has not been loyal to me and has refused to obey my command.” What a sad day for Saul- His heart no longer belonged to God. “Now the Spirit of the Lord had left Saul, and the Lord sent a tormenting spirit that filled him with depression and fear.” How difficult life would be for Saul. Saul needed the Lord, there was no way he could be the King, without God’s help. Such a waste, Saul was for the kingdom.
Something To Do: Remember that my strengths and abilities make me useful, but my weaknesses is what makes me usable. My skills and talents make me known, but my failures and shortcomings let me know how much I need God in my life. I want God to control my life in everything I do.
