God Speaks
Elihu son of Barakel of Buzite said…
Job 32:6a
My Takeaways
Something Old
I love that God speaks in so many different ways.
Something New
God Speaks:
- Through dreams, visions, and whispers. (Time and time again, though people do not recognize it.) (Job 33:14)
What have I missed because I did not know how to recognize God’s voice?
- Through pain. (Job 33:19) Suffering is educational (Morgan) Psalm 32
Our responsibility is to recognize and respond to God by confessing our sin:
- God will rescue us from the grave— a place of destruction, so we may enjoy life. (Job 33:30)
- God does these things over and over again. (Job 33:29)
Something to Do
Stay close enough to God to hear the whispers and see the visions.
My Takeaways:
Thank goodness for Elihu. For a young guy he sure has it altogether. Elihu is wise beyond his years.
Something Old:
Don’t lose hope; wait upon God. He knows our right living and faith
Something New:
Job needs to realize his present sin. (Job 32:2)He wasn’t suffering because of sins. He was sinning because of suffering. Suffering isn’t to punish us, but to correct and restore us. Elihu is one wise young man. But he also lacks a little wisdom because suffering doesn’t ALWAYS bring healing and restoration and isn’t ALWAYS connected to our sins. But what I like about Elihu is that he does give a different viewpoint then what Job had been hearing from his friends.
Something To Do:
I must live out God’s great truths daily. Take time to listen to his voice. I need to trust God’s goodness even when I don’t understand. Trust God– not the goodness of life. Wait for God’s timing, he doesn’t always intervene immediately, but when he does it will always be just. God will always notice my right living and faith. He is God!
I love your remark: “he was sinning because of suffering”. Wow. Great insight. How many times have we all done that?
“For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it”. That’s a good one for me! I pray that I will listen and recognize the voice and teachings of God.
