I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust at a young woman.

Something Old

Something New

Look: biyn (bene) attend, consider, discern, feel to separate mentally (or distinguish)

What if we made a covenant or agreement with our eyes, hears, tongue, heart, mind, hands, and feet?

  • EyesTurn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through your word.  Psalm 119:37
  • Ears- Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Proverbs 2:2
  • Tongue – Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. Ephesians 4:29
  • HeartGuard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23
  • MindAnd now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8
  • HandsThe temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. 1 Corinthians 10:13
  • FeetFor the LORD is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap. Proverbs 3:26

  1. My Takeaways: Yes, the best words I read today were “Jobs words were ended.” This is starting to get so monotonous.

Something Old: Job continues to prove his innocence.

    Something New:
When I stop and really think about what Job has gone through it is heartbreaking. I – most likely – as a Christian will never have to experience such hardships. Job is not your average Christian. He must be skin and bones by now. But he still hangs on.

    Something To Do:
I must always remember that I will be sustained by the same power and grace that kept Job’s sanity. The same love of God will keep me through the lesser trials I must pass through. That same grace will keep me. I will succeed, enduring to the end, because I have Jesus Christ as my Savior. When I look at Job’s response, there’s nothing puppet-like about him at all. Here’s a human like me and only by appropriating the grace of God did Job get by. Grace is omnipotence acting to sanctify and glorify God’s people. I must never lose sight of the mighty power of God.
