Pray more. Praise more.
Word Study Wednesday
There were not a lot of words in our Psalm that were not easily understood. I picked a few in verses 1-4 but was intrigued by and hadn’t really noticed the word selah. I love where the psalmist placed it. After the shouting and singing to our Great and Awesome God we are to pause and think about the shouting and singing of our Great and Awesome God. So let’s do that…
Make a joyful noise [raise a shout, give a blast – 7321 rua(roo-ah’) ] unto God [430 – Elo-heem] – all the earth;
Sing [make music unto God -2167 zawmar(zaw-mar’)] forth the honor and glory of His name; make His praise glorious!
Say to God, How awesome and fearfully glorious are Your works! Through the greatness of Your power shall Your enemies submit themselves to You
All the earth shall bow down to You and sing to You; they shall praise Your name in song.
Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!
