What Happened to My Prayer?

It’s been more than 20 years now. Yes, I have earnestly prayed a certain request for more than 20 years. Each day I wait for His answer.

Over the years I have tried to pray the “right way.” I have asked God to:

  • Search my heart (Psalm 139:23)
  • Forgive my sin (Psalm 66:18)
  • Make my heart’s desires His heart’s desires (Psalm 37:4)
  • Have the Holy Spirit intercede on my behalf (Romans 8:28-29)
  • Give my heart the right motives as I pray (James 4:3

If I am praying in the right way then what has happened to my prayer?

Have you wondered what happened to your prayer?

During the wondering years I began to question God, not in a disrespectful way but in a “help me understand” way. As I inquired, I was drawn to a story in the Old Testament and a man named Daniel who also wondered about a prayer he prayed.

Daniel prayed for understanding about a vision that had frightened him. He prayed and continued praying but no answer came. Then one day, an angel came to him with these words,

Then he said, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer.” (Daniel 10:12 NIV)

Friends, delayed does not mean denied.

God hears our prayers right away. The burden of our prayer moves from our shoulders to His throne immediately. The delivery of your answer rests in His perfect timing.

Are you carrying the burden of an unanswered prayer? Today, lay the burden at His throne and rejoice that your prayer has been heard. Celebrate the answer, when it comes will be for your good and God’s glory.

  1. Hi Wendy,

I have missed your bible study BUT know the Lord is blessing YOU as you honor his calling in your life.
Yes, I have prayed a prayer for the last 10 years and I heard a “YES” just days ago. Oh, thank you Jesus. It has been answered during a hard time and I’m truly thankful. His ways are not ours but His timing is sooo perfect. Let’s not get discouraged because We Win in the End!!!!Let’s keep Exalting Him in the Wait.
    Love you.

  2. Dear Wendy,

Thank you for sending out this message just at the right time for me! I have been struggling with some trials in my life right now and praying with all my heart for God to hear me. Your message is a perfect reminder that God is good and DOES always hear our prayers! We must put our trust in Him and wait patiently. All things in His timing, always!

  3. Good Morning Wendy,
You seem to be on my wavelength these days. I recently left an abusive marriage, with my 2 teenagers and a dog. We are now in our own home so the “worst” of the transition is over, but now that we’re settled, my mind is allowing itself to feel things I pushed to the side for so long. I have felt so burdened these past several months. So much to do and handle. Reading the line “Today, lay the burden at His throne and rejoice that your prayer has been heard” was like a cool drink of water on a hot day! It made me feel not only so much less alone, but also loved and taken care of by someone again. Thank you Wendy.
