An Unexpected Storm
I read the story of the storm that arose while Peter and the disciples were on the Sea of Galilee. Jesus had just miraculously feed over 5000 men and women. The disciples had been faithfully following and obeying Jesus. Afterwards Jesus made the disciples go ahead of Him by boat to Bethsaida while He dismissed the crowd then He went to pray.
The skies were dark as pitch but the trip was to be uneventful, straight from shore to shore, a trip they had taken many times before. In midst of an uneventful normal shore to shore trip a storm rose and carried them away from normal right into a horrific event. These experienced fishermen were tossed to the middle of the shore, far from the safety of the shore and the Savior.
Sometimes, even though we faithfully follow and obey the Lord, we are tossed into the middle of storm. We struggle. It’s dark. The winds of life’s storm come crashing against us. We are far from the safety of our normal shoreline. Sometimes we wonder if our Savior He sees us.
He does.
The fisherman could not see Jesus but Jesus could see them. Mark 6:48, “He saw the disciples straining at the oars…”
Sweet sister, have you been faithfully serving and obeying the Lord only to be tossed in the middle of an unexpected storm? Are you far from the safety of your shore wondering if the Lord even sees you?
He does.
He sees you straining. He sees the struggles you are facing. Just as He walked across the tossing Sea of Galilee to calm the storm that rose against them He will calm the storm that has risen against you. (and me.)
How do I know?
The Bible tells me so.
Thank you for these thoughts this morning, Wendy!
Thank you for encourage me , Wendy!
Wendy,
I’ve been away for awhile, busy with a move between states that has taken over a year to complete. It is so good to be back, receiving the nourishment of your words. You are such an inspiration. I continually thank God for the gifts he has given you and your wiliness to share.
