A Personal Revival

“It is God who has wronged me, capturing me in his net.”  Job 19:6

We don’t know exactly how long Job’s suffering lasted, but we see it lasted long enough for him throw a pity party or two. His language toward God is strong. He says, “I cry out, help! But no one answers me. I protest that there is no justice. God has blocked my way so I cannot move. He has plunged my path into darkness. He has uprooted my hope like a fallen tree.”

Has your suffering ever lead you to thoughts like Job, thinking God was out to get you? Job teaches us a great lesson in dealing with the bottled emotions we may have towards God: let them out. God created our emotions but never intended for them to be barrier in our relationship with Him. The more we suppress our emotions from God the more oppressed we feel by God.

Job’s pity party turned into praise. In expressing his full emotions to God he preached himself right into a personal revival. He purged his mind of wrong thinking, opening it up to truth. “But as for me I know that my Redeemer lives and He will stand upon the earth at last. I will see Him for myself.”

Don’t be afraid to share your deepest hurts with God. He can handle the conversation. The intense moment of fellowship can turn into a personal revival and completely transform your outlook toward God and your circumstances.

  1. Never thought of this, of Job having a personal revival! What a great new insight into his pity party.

  2. Wendy, I love your thoughts about turning frustration with God into joy and praise, remembering His blessings! Gonna share this with my daughter…she is a single mom to my two beautiful grandsons, one of whom is medically fragile, and she is very tired today! Hoping God’s message through His Word will raise her to a personal revival!
