To Do

Day 48

“Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them out.”
Colossians 4:6

I asked myself this questions, What is my goal when I am conversing with another person? Am I the only one who struggles to find an answer to this question?
If I am honest, it is not build them up. I wonder if I am even a good listener. I want to be, but too often I am considering what to say in response to what is being said more than I am in really listening. And if I am in the middle of confrontation I am busy trying to think of how to prove my point, make sure I defend myself, and others know my side of the story.
The verse really convicts me. In my heart of hearts I want to bring about the best in others but I never considered doing that with my conversation. I love Brooke’s to-do list! I want to be more intentional about building others up, especially like Brooke, building-up those I love.
To Do:
  • Thank my husband for going to work everyday.
  • Call my mom and dad to say I love you.
  • Ask my best friend I how can help her this week
  • Take the bag of clothes to Melissa Taylor for her daughter

  1. Yes this is great verse….i am going to share it on my FB. THis is really strong!! I heard myself being sarcastic this weekend which was not good at all… I will make sure to build others and not be sarcastic…thank you!! Have a great Monday!!

  2. God spoke to me in this verse… How often I am preparing my next sentence while engaged in a conversation. Lord help me be a good listener is my prayer.
