Until it Takes Root
Day 33
Have you ever prayed for something not really believing the prayer would be answered? Maybe it was for healing. Maybe you prayed scripture for transformation of a certain habit or area of your life. You prayed but when the answer did not come as you wanted or when you wanted you stopped praying. I feel quite certain we can say, “been there, done that.”
A few years ago, I started praying God’s Word, specifically and personally. It was strange at first, strange because I did not really believe what I was saying. I felt like a fraud and wondered how the words I was praying could ever really happen. I wasn’t even sure I knew the meaning of the words nor could imagine how the scripture would display themselves in my life. Regardless of how I felt, I keeping praying.
Eventually, my beliefs caught up with the words, not only caught up but surpassed. They took root in my heart and built a firm foundation that could conquer my fears, overcome my doubts, resolve any mystery, and defeat all the lies. This foundation secured my trust in God so when I prayed, I could do so in confidence, knowing that no matter what His answer or when it came, was His best for me and all those concerned.
Philippians 3:16-19 was the first scripture I specifically and personally prayed. My prayer went like this:
I pray that from His [Your] glorious, unlimited resources He [You] will empower you [me] with inner strength through His [Your] Spirit. Then Christ [You] will make His [Your] home in your [my] hearts as you [I] trust in Him [You]. Your [My] roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you [me] strong. And may you [I] have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is.19 May you [I] experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you [I] will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Emphasis mine
Pray until it takes root girls. We must pray until it takes root, His love and His Word.
Will you pray until it takes root?
Hi Wendy, thanks for the encouragement today. It surely resonated with me especially the scripture. I love how you personalized it. I went to my Bible and to read it again for myself and remembered that God was speaking to me about the same scripture but in a different book. I believe you put Philippians instead of Ephesians. Just in case someone else is looking for that passage. thanks again Wendy
Praying for this to take root…..
I am praying; I am praying!!!! I needed this word of encouragement as you see it is bedtime, and God is granting me peace and rest with what you have written today. I cherish what you have taught us through God’s word this week in Ps. 54!! I am treading in my prayer of asking for deliverance, believing Him for deliverance, and praising Him while I tread in the water that I so thirst after.
Col. 2:6-7
