Tidy Up
A few years ago while studying Psalms 139, I was prompted to hop over to The Message translation of Psalm 139:23-24 and compare it to the NIV. I must share it with you.
“Investigate my life, O God, find out everything about me; Cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I’m about; See for yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong— guide me on the road to eternal life.”
I challenged myself and my online class to pray the piercing words of the psalmist. As we prayed, the words pierced, pierced and purified. There is such power when we pray the exact words of God. As I prayed I began to get a clear picture of what I was all about. God knew already, He needed me to know. As I prayed, I began to find out things about myself. God already knew, He just wanted me know. As I prayed, He guided me to embrace the fullness of my eternal life.
Facing ourselves, warts and all isn’t easy but it pure. And pure is good.
Tidying-up is not a one time or even a seasonal thing. To maintain honest communication and a growing relationship with Christ daily tidying is necessary. Like tidying our home it is not easy and sometimes you have to make a mess before things look clean again. Be patient with the Holy Spirit’s work in your life. The result is worth all the effort.
Wendy, I need to update my email address from [email protected] to [email protected]. I have paid for the spring study and I cannot find where to update this information.
I got a chance to get caught up on your posts today… you and the Holy Spirit have spoken much to me today. Thanks for your honesty and your openness. Have a blessed evening.
