An Off-Track Day
Day 7
Off-track day. I love this term! I am sure Lysa will not mind if we add it to our vocabulary. There have been a time or two that have been derailed even before I got on the track . Can I get a witness?
The key to getting on the right track is determining who our Conductor will be. We can guide ourselves or we can let the one who knows what track we will be on for the day lead. So often I have my own agenda. My schedule of t0-dos. When I determine my track I am unable to see the divine appointments He has for me. We miss them I often miss Him.
I miss Him when I allow myself to be derailed and yell at my son for making a youthful mistake rather than pausing to teach him how things could have been differently. He is missed when I don’t allow His aroma and countenance to fill the bank as I walk in to make a deposit. It is impossible to see Him when I am in such a hurry I miss the chance to encourage a senior adult by loading her groceries and taking her car back to the return stall.
We have the power not to be derailed. It is called self-discipline. We can choose to forget the former things. We can accept that what happened happened. What we submit to will have power over us. Do I want to let the man who cut me off in traffic on the way to work determine the course of my day? Will I give the rude woman at the airport the power to take my happy? I think not!
Rainy days and Mondays don’t have to get us down. And neither to off-track days.
Focus On God. Focus on His Word. Let it get into us. Let it spill out of us. We can stay on track.
In the spirit of the today’s devotion title, Rainy Days and Mondays. I found any encouraging video for us to watch.
The Opposite of rainy days and Mondays…His love has put me on the top of the world!
