TGFABT – Psalm 17
“Show the wonder of your great love, You who save by
Your right hand those who take refuge in You from their foes.”
Psalm 17:7
When Things Are Not Easy
It isn’t easy to keep your mouth from not sinning when are you being persecuted slandered, and mistreated.
It isn’t easy to wait on God’s vindication and not seek revenge for yourself.
When Things Are Not Easy
It isn’t easy to keep your mouth from not sinning when are you being persecuted slandered, and mistreated.
It isn’t easy to wait on God’s vindication and not seek revenge for yourself.
When it isn’t easy:
- Keep allowing Him to probe our heart. (V2)
- Keep ourselves in the right company. (V4)
- Keep ourselves on the right path. (V5)
We can confidently approach and ask Him to incline His ear to hear and listen to our prayers.
We can count on Him to show the wonder of His love to us because we seek refuge in Him instead of revenge for ourselves.
Truth
My truth is from verse five. I am holding to His path so my feet will not slip.
Word Study
Verse three jumped out at me the first time I read it. I knew right away the word probe was going to be part of our word study today.
When I hear the word probe I immediately think of something a doctor does to locate an infection or examine for problems. The word sounds painful and the process is not pleasant. When the process is complete and a diagnosis is made a a treatment plan is recommended. When the process is over and treatment is complete our problem area is healed and we are restored. As is the the Lord’s probing of our hearts.
He examines, probes, and tries our heart to identify infection and problem areas. He longs to diagnosis the source of the problem, recommend a treatment plan in order for the problem to be removed. The process can be painful and is not always pleasant but when it is complete we are healed and restored.
Bachan-baw-khan
to examine, scrutinize to test, prove, try, to be tried, proved, to make a trial
Thankful
I am very thankful the moving process is coming to an end in three days. Whew…..
Faith Stretching/Strengthening
The stretching is quite obvious….this weekend. It strengthens me as well
Another great Psalm to study this week. I did my Psalm study for the week and the e-book this morning ladies since I will be gone next week and unable to be online. So have a great week of study and spend time with each other sharing your comments.
I love in the video WEndy points out that when we pray, God inclines his ear to hear us, but that our sin can separate us from God and cause Him to turn His ear away. An important reminder to reflect and confess sin.
Truth Tuesday: We are important to God and He protects us: verse 8- keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.
Wednesday: love the word study this week and how Wendy described the probing of our hearts by God. I also love the e-book study this week and Wendy’s discussion of how we should deal with criticism even when it is unjust. Lots of good wisdom in the e-book study this week!
Thankful that God is my vindicator and I can trust in Him to protect me.
Faith stretching: Resolve that my mouth not sin. David made a definitive choice that his mouth would not sin…he was resolved. When I looked it up, resolve means determine, decide, make up one’s mind. Imporant to resolve that my mouth will not sin.
Happy Beautiful Monday!
I pray that when God probes my heart he will find only the good things I feel are there. No evil in this heart! But I’m am sure somewhere deep down evil scars my heart and mind as it does in us humans. I will harder going forwArd to live as God instructs. This was a wonderful lesson. David’s confidence in his clean heart provides hope that I too will someday be as perfect as I can be in Gods eyes.
Have a great trip Nancy!
I had to practice holding my tongue with a family member that hurt me deeply this weekend. Hard not to respond as I know it will not make a difference. I pray for only kindness to come forth. Nancy enjoy your week!
Truth is seeking God with positive thoughts first thing when I open my eyes and not all that is wrong. Prayers to God to keep me in the right path when the enemy is gnawing untruths in my brain!
Truth is how difficult it is for me to hear of my son’s Health and family issues and not being able to be there I person to help. Keeping myself in the right company helps”
Our prayers are our comfort and peace in times of trouble. Pray often and trust God, He works all things for His glory and our good. Love ya girl!
Probe is a great word this week. I think of how many times I feel God probing me to think and rethink what I do and how I respond to different areas of my life. Thankfully he is a forgiving God for the times he probes my heart and I do not respond properly!
Said so beautifully, thank you!
I have been reading this Psalm every day and in different versions and I love the confidence David has in the final verse. David is so sure of his eternity with God. His peace, confidence and joy reside in this final statement. May we all grow to trust God and rely on him as our everything!
I am ever thankful for God to allow me to see and correct my faults so that on that day I will be ready for him!
God really does direct things in our lives in a way that makes us think it is our idea. I have seen his hand in a situation this week and he is working it out in ways I never expected. I need to give it all to him.
