Truth
What is truth is the Lord amplifying in your life this week? I am hearing the word trust everywhere. There are many ways God is asking me to trust Him. The word sustain is huge to me right now.
Word Study
Today I needed verse 5, ” I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.” The word sustains grabbed me, I guess because I needed Him to do this for me so desperately.
Camak- (saw-mak’)
- to lean, lay, rest, support, put, uphold, lean upon
- to support or brace oneself
- to sustain, refresh, revive
Sustains means more than ” He gets us through.” He refreshes. He revives. Thank you God!!!
Thankful
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.
Psalm 150:6
Today is thankful Tuesday. Share at least one thing you are thankful for today. I am thankful for healthy children.
Faith Stretching/Strengthening
This week the Spirit has revealed some useful but hurtful things. Again, I hear the word “trust” as I watch and wait for God to work all things out for His glory and my good.
Good Morning, Ladies! I love how this Psalm continues the idea that Wendy talked about in the e-book study of Psalm 2. David had the wrong thinking (the wrong armor) in the beginning of the Psalm but turned to what he knew to be true about God (the right armor). I loved how she described who God is in our difficult circumstances: our defense, honor, head lifter, our sleep aid. And He sustains us!
On my way home today I heard a song on the radio that echoed this lesson. It said in the song that God is for us! He is not against us. He is the lifter of my head. I like how she reminds us that it is our choice as to how we respond to difficult circumstances. Will I blame God or rely on Him for my deliverance?
Love that Ruth! Repetition important to pay attention to. : ))
I have found another favorite verse after today’s video! Psalm 3:3 “But, Lord, you are my shield, my glory, and my only hope.” I have written this verse down on a little 3×5 card and will place it somewhere in my home, or maybe in my car. This is a perfect verse to remind me that the Lord is always with me, he is my protector (shield). He helps me battle the struggles I have in this life. One of the things that I really love about David is the fact that even though he was “a man after God’s own heart” he still had struggles and doubts; he was human just like me. Even though he had struggles, he always came back to the Lord. I pray that I too never blame God for my circumstances, but instead seek him!
I really like your version of 3:3 and will note that verse as well. I truly believe we find strength in the word and should truly try to memorize as much as possible.
I love that version too Tara! I too love David’s heart in the passage. He begins by describing His situation and then he puts that important word in there: BUT. All this is going on BUT I choose to trust in the Lord. It is awesome how David can turn his heart toward Go in the midst of a very difficult circumstance.
I truly appreciate how Wendy explains each chapter. She really makes them more meaningful almost as if we can feel what David is experiencing. I have read through this Psalm before and yet this time I can truly find comfort in David’s writing. I find it encouraging that we can turn to the same God that David did and he is there to lift us up as well. It is a beautiful picture of the Lord shielding us.
As I am dealing with many difficulties I want to ask God why? I realize too often I question him instead of letting him shield me from my foes and my woes. He is my deliverer and my protector. How awesome to know that God loves me unconditionally and never leaves me. I can lay my head to my pillow tonight knowing this. How awesome a sleep aid is this!!!
Thankful Tuesday–I am thankful for my sister who has been here from Seattle since the week after Christmas helping me with all that has been happening in our life with my dad’s illness and passing. She is AWESOME and GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME.
I am so touched today to know that God sustains me. I am very much in need of his strength, He lifts my head and my heart and gives me strength to face the future.
I love the idea of God sustaining us!
A great truth and reminder in this Psalm for me was when we cry out to God, He hears us. And He answers. This happens over and over in Scripture especially in the Psalms.
Did you love the e-book study today?! Wendy does a great job reminding us how important it is to have right thinking!!! I agree with Karen that having Scripture memorized is so helpful especially when we are trying to think TRUTH. Phil 4:8 which Wendy mentions in the e-book study is a great verse to memorize so we can gauge our thoughts according to that verse and replace what Wendy calls “stinkin’thinkin’ “.
Ladies, I think God is trying to tell me something! Tonight as I was doing the e-book study I was also listening to my Pandora contemporary christian station, and the song “Never Let Go” came on as I was writing Romans 8:1 – “If God is for ME, who can be against ME”? Some of the lyrics to this song fit PERFECTLY with Romans 8:1:And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear?
Is that not the coolest thing when that happens!!

Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
WOW!!! I think God is trying to tell me that I worry too much about things outside of my control. He is on my side; what more do I need! The lyrics for this song are so truthful and really make me think about my “stinkin thinkin”! Look them up when you have time!
I am not sure why there are 2 of these comments, I think I accidentally hit enter too soon on the first on! Sorry about that!
Great thoughts, Tara! God has his way of making his word getting into our brains and lives!
“Stinkin’ thinkin” has always been a curse of mine. As I have aged and gotten wiser I realize that all that negativity was just a waste of my time, health, and my mind. Through prayer, trusting in Gods help I have finally been able to get control over my food addictions. It works! Put your trust in God and energy into all things positive. Leave the negativity behind!
Now that I know this affirmation what else can I change with the
Lords help? Hmmm
Sorry ladies – I am so far behind this week. I just closed my door at work and took lunch for once and listened to the lesson. Thank you for not judging me for always not getting things done on time. This lesson is pretty powerful to me. Last night I was at GriefShare and it was my night to share. On those nights the feelings of 4 years ago comes back to mind so clear, like it was just yesterday. I felt so much like David back then, however, through the pain and suffering my relationship with the Lord got so much stronger and more fulfilling. I would get down in the dumps and think there was no hope and then I would pick up my Bible and realize that God is my hope. There is also a song by Sandi Patty that I listened to all of the time, ‘When Life Gets Broken.’ In that song it says, ‘he’ll carry your burden when it’s too much to bear.’ How true that is – we just have to always keep that in the front of our minds instead of letting it slip to some hidden spot where we can’t find it. I can’t wait to do my lesson tonight and get caught up. Thanks again for being patient with me.
Jackie,
We all get behind. No worries. The great thing is…YOU ARE STICKIN WITH IT even though you got behind. We all understand but so appreciate that you are still with us and taking time to share. I love the study but sharing comments with you all takes the study so much deeper and I am learning so much from all of you already. Love your voices girls! I love that you shared that through very difficult times your relationship with the Lord grew deeper…we can all be encouraged by that!
I really enjoyed the word study today. I have always been attracted to the thought of the Lord sustaining me. I am not promised tomorrow, He revives, refreshes, and upholds me day to day. Without His Word and His promises, I don’t know how I would make it through! Thank the Lord for today! What else can I do to glorify him today….
I love the word study today especially the idea that the Lord doesn’t just get us through but sustains, refreshes, revives us!!!
God’s word is like a beautiful warm spring day that fills up our senses. The birds are singing, the crocus are blooming, the sunshine warms you from the inside out.
Thankful today that God hears our cries and responds!
I am behind this week because my beautiful daughter is in town and we have been busy having fun……which is what I am thankful for :).
I love knowing that God is always there. He has helped me get through health issues in the last few years. I would crumble some days without him. Love hearing the affirmation of this again.
Thankful today for sunshine and babysitting our grandson, Ethan!
I am thankful today for both of the studies I am doing this week. They keep my mind focused on God and not the things that try to bring me down. He is giving me a spirit of strength. Have a great evening.
I am a day behind, but for Thankful Thursday, I am thankful for my wonderful husband! I am always so proud of him, but after some exciting news this week, I am extra proud of him! What a blessing the Lord has given me!!
Good evening Ladies, Happy Spring! This morning the birds were singing and I had to smile at 5:30am. I am so thankful for the change of seasons and the birds this morning reminded me that spring is here, a new beginning! God is good…..All the time!
Loved the lesson this week, Thursday was a really tough day at work, several people lost their jobs, and just very hard day for everyone. I am encouraged to let those people know this lesson that God is for them, even when it feels like everything right now is coming down on them. I have been behind, and not got to the lesson this week but had time today to just spend time on it and it was exactly what I need to hear and so thankful for God’s PERFECT timing. Appreciate all you comments they are uplifting and very cool to hear everyone’s perspectives! Have a good weekend and see you Monday.
Faith stretching Friday…I love the e-book study this week. Hope you have had a chance to read it. Thursday’s study was great! God is strethcing me to replace my thoughts with his thoughts. Wendy gave us wonderful Scripture to get us started! Blessings to you girls!!!
God is lifter of my head, i love that, yes ive been to that place where I couldnt lift my head.
I am very much enjoying this study on Psalms. I have had the 1-41 for quite a while that I bought through proverbs 31 and have just been waiting for the right time to start. Right now they are doing the first 5 study on Psalms so I am just linking then all together and loving it. Thank you!
