Strong Headwinds

“Putting out to sea from there, we encountered strong headwinds that made it difficult to keep the ship on course…”
Acts 27:4

My Take Aways

Something Old:

Navigating through the storm

  • Can be slow (7)
  • Can be difficult (7)
  • Can be met with struggles (8)
  • Can present moments that look like we are  gonna make it (13)
  • Can offer abrupt “wind” changes (14)
  • Can make us give up and let the “wind” take us (15)

In the storm God

  • Will give us a lifeboat. (16)
  • May make us throw out all our securities overboard. (17)
  • Take us through more rough water so rough that it appears all hope is  gone. (20)

But…

Take courage, it will just as He said, even if we have to be shipwrecked for a while (25)

  • I have overcome the world. John 16:33
  • Greater is He who is in you, then he who is in the world. (he= hardships: cancer, wayward children, employment, loss of home etc.) 1 John 4:4
  • I will never leave or forsake you. Hebrews 13:5
  • I will never change. Hebrews 13:8
  • I have gone to prepare a place for you. John 14:2-3

The storm may continue (V27) but there will be a shore on the horizon (39) maybe one you don’t recognize.

Something New:

A shipwreck can be a place of safety.

Something to Do:

Hang on.
