The Prophecy Provides: A Wonderful Counselor
Today’s post is part 2 of a four-part series helping us to see the connection of the manger to our life today. (Post 1~The Prophecy Provides)
I love that in God’s sovereign and perfect plan for mankind, through the birth of His only Son, provided what we would need to fulfill the promise of Peter’s words, “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” (2 Peter 1:3)
The first way we can connect the manger to our life today is by allowing God to fulfill His plan in us and agreeing with His wisdom and guidance in our lives. Before Jesus died and ascended into heaven to take His seat beside the Father He said these words. ” But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything you I have said to you.” (John 14:22)
I like to call Him my Blessed Reminder. He, through His wisdom teaches me, then through His grace reminds of things when I need them most. Now, girls, it is rare day that I don’t need some reminding, how about you? Many days I need the pointer finger of His righteous right hand waving in my face. He loves me enough to teach me and enough to remind me. What a Savior?
What is a counselor? The definition as used in this Hebrew word is to advise, consult, give counsel, counsel, purpose, devise, plan, to consult together, exchange counsel, deliberate, counsel together. Don’t overlook the last part of the definition: deliberate and counsel together. The Holy Trinity, The Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, deliberate and counsel together on our behalf. What do you think of that? We have team working on our behalf to give us the best plan and counsel to help us in every situation life brings our way.
I can hardly stand this good news. Now, if only I will daily heed to the deliberated counsel that my team has planned for me. Oh, the patience to wait on the counsel and the wisdom to accept it.
Help me Lord! Can I get a witness?
