The Root
Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.
Hebrews 12:15b
My Takeaways
Something Old
Key Words
- Bitterness: resentful or cynical emotion that results in an intense antagonism or hostility toward others. holding on to angry feelings that make you ready to take offense, able to break out in anger at any moment.
- Root: the anchoring the plant and absorbing nutriment and moisture.
- Poison: harmful; destructive; deeply malicious; malevolent:
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. It then goes on to tell us how to deal with such bitterness and its fruits by being kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. (NIV) Ephesians 4:31-32
The Biblical way to deal with bitterness —
- Never let it happen. Deal with the offense right away, and keep dealing with it until it’s not an issue.
- If it has a root, pull the root, and get rid of it.
Something New
