A Tree Planted
Then Jesus told this story: “A man planted a fig tree in his garden and came again and again to see if there was any fruit on it, but he was always disappointed.”
Luke 13:6
My Takeaways
Something Old
Jesus touched the crippled woman and healed her.
Could Jesus touch someone and they not be healed?
Something New
Questions we need to ask ourselves?
- Is my life a testimony to what Christ did for me?
- Is my life a testimony to what His Spirit can do with a life fertilized with Truth?
- Is my eternal life secured by my faith in Jesus Christ?
- Am I bearing fruit?
Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. Psalm 1:1-3
Something to Do
Bear fruit… lots of fruit… all the fruit I can bear.
Wendy, I’m at an age where it is very easy to sit and think, ‘now what’ – ‘I’ve passed my prime’ -‘ I’m too old.’ But the scripture reading today reminded me that I still have fruit to bear – bushels of fruit! And it was reaffirmed when you noted Psalm 1: 2-3. “Bearing fruit in EACH season”, even in the senior moments of our lives. Praising God for His continued love, grace and direction as we serve Him.
This is a beautiful and perfect reminder for me as well! Thank you!
