If You Say So
“Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.”
Luke 5:5
My Takeaways
Something Old
The man with leprosy couldn’t keep his healing to himself. When God heals us, we can’t keep things to ourselves.
Something New
Peter knew Jesus. He knew His words were powerful, yet what He was asking Peter to do didn’t make sense; but because he knew Jesus, and knew His words had power, he obeyed Jesus.
But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” (NKJV) Luke 5:5
So much can happen at the word of Jesus…
Obedience when it doesn’t make sense produces
- Awestruck experiences with God.
- Alertness to our unbelief/sin.
- Awareness of who we are and who we are not.
- Aspiration to follow Him intimately.
Something to Do
Saying “yes” to God will never disappoint us.
