RTW August 29
Oops, I keep saying it is August 26th! LOL
Like It Or Not
Whether we like it or not, we will obey the Lord our God to whom we are sending you with our plea. For if we obey him, everything will turn out well for us.
Jeremiah 42:6
My Takeaways
Something Old
Jeremiah prayed for ten days. (Jeremiah 42:7) How long do I pray for something?
Something New
“It is useless to profess our desire to know God’s will, whilst in our secret heart we are determined to follow a certain course, come what may. How often do believers ask for prayer that their course may be made clear, when in point of fact they have already decided on it, and are secretly hoping to turn God to their own side!” (F.B. Meyer)
What do I intend to do with God’s answer to my prayers?
Intend: to have in mind as something to be done or brought about
We expect God to answer, shouldn’t He expect that we would obey?
When I pray, do I:
- Obey
- Compromise
- Complain
- Wait
- Reject
When we pray then obey, all will go well with us. Disobedience separates us from God; obedience unites us with Him
Something to Do
Make sure all goes well with us.
The key verse stood out to me today and was very convicting as well. Thank you for your honesty Wendy. I am becoming more aware of how I pray for direction from the Lord and then make my own plans and just invite him along. I pray to God and then ignore His answer. I tell God “this is what I want to do – please bless it – Your will be done” and then do what I think is His will rather than wait on Him to confirm.
I don’t seek Him with a truly submitted heart that is willing to do ANYTHING He tells me to do….
