The Exchange
You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and exquisite in beauty.
Ezekiel 28:12b
My Takeaways
Something Old
“I am god!” Ezekiel 28:2b. Who sits on the throne of my heart?
Something New
What is worth the security of having the guiding presence of the Living God leading, protecting, and providing for me?
Pride: A high or inordinate opinion of one’s own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct
The haunting words of “you were” are heard when we exchange:
- Success for Greed (Ezekiel 28:16)
- Wisdom for Lust (Ezekiel 28:17)
- Holiness for Irreverence (Ezekiel 28:18)
The exchange starts when we think more highly of ourselves than we ought.
Something to Do
Stay out of the exchange lane.
“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21. This is the beautiful exchange we have received in Christ.
And yet I continue to try to …. well, not return it, because my salvation is precious … but I DO try to improve on it (as if I could) or add to it. The “additions” are what need to be exchanged or even, sometimes, completely returned.
The pride of the people of Tyre makes me think of Matthew 23:12 & Proverbs 3:34 …
To Do: Be Humble
