Do I Reject Rest?
This is what the Lord says: ‘Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’ Jeremiah 6:16
My Takeaways
Something Old
Some of the obstacles I face are placed there by the Lord. (Jeremiah 6:21)
Something New
Stand by the roadways and look. Ask about the ancient paths: Which is the way to what is good? Then take it and find rest for yourselves. (HCSB) Jeremiah 6:16b
- The old way is the good way.
Good- pleasant, agreeable, excellent, appropriate, better) - Walk in the good way.
Walk – move by advancing the feet alternately
They were to seek the old ways, then walk in them.
The reward for seeking and walking is resting
God gave them clear direction to freedom and rest and they rejected it.
Something to Do
Don’t reject the rest God is offering.
I’m practically in tears here as, once again, Wendy’s lesson reaches me right where I am. LORD, help me choose Your road of rest. Your way. The Way.
“Therefore, this is what the LORD says: “I will put obstacles in my people’s path.” (Jeremiah 6:21a) I feel like t,his is what the Lord is doing with me right now. Things have always gone so smoothly for me – but as I seek a new home, and find nothing, I have a feeling that I may have a transition period where I need to stay with friends and family – which I DON’T want to do (I want an easy, smooth transition). But I have said to the LORD “Your will be done – if it is for my good and especially Your glory, I will welcome any obstacle or difficulty”
