Make A Way For The Lord

Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting, Clear the way through the wilderness for the LORD! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God!
Isaiah 40:3

My Takeaways

Something Old

Who allowed Israel to be robbed and hurt? Isaiah 42:24

God sovereignly allows pain and trouble to come our way.

Something New

Make a way for the Lord in the wastelands and wilderness

  • Find your strength
He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Isaiah 40:29
  • Fear Not
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10  ’For I hold you by your right hand—I, the Lord your God.’ And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.’  Isaiah 41:13
  • Forget
But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.  Isaiah 43:18-19

Something to Do

Keep the path straight… straight from the wastelands to the Lord

  1. So much prophecy about JESUS in today’s readings!

I was confused by 41:10 & 41:13 and I loved Wendy’s explanation. That helped so much.

Isaiah 43:13 – From eternity to eternity I am God. No one can snatch anyone out of my hand. No one can undo what I have done. He is our forever God and we are his forever children.

Isaiah 43:19 – oh how I needed this reminder. It may seem hopeless and barren like a wasteland – but God can create life in the most barren places/situations.

  2. Wendy, your sharing of hymns and praise songs had been especially meaningful. So I thought I would share a favorite of my own.

Based on Isaiah 40 (a Chapter in my Bible that I read again and again- especially in my wilderness seasons). In Hebrew Nachamu means Comfort.

Many of us (me included) especially love Isaiah 40 and are familiar with many of the verses.

So I though I would share this song based on the Chapter. (In Hebrew Nachamu means Comfort)
