Out Of Favor
But by trusting in Pharaoh, you will be humiliated and by depending on him, you will be disgraced.
Isaiah 30:3
My Takeaways
Something Old
We are not always going to hear what we want to hear from God.
See Isaiah 30:10-11
Something New
Assyrian army was attacking Israel and Judah. The northern kingdom of Israel would be conquered by Assyria, and the people of Israel would be taken into exile. The Assyrians would then come against the southern kingdom of Judah, and because of this threat, the leaders of Judah looked to Egypt for protection against the Assyrian invasion.
They were right to recognize they needed help; they wrong to reach to Egypt for it.
We bring God’s disgrace (the state of being out of favor) upon us when:
- Make plans contrary to God.
Am I making plans contrary to God’s plans? - Make alliances not directed by the Spirit.
Am I following the direction of the Holy Spirit? - Get help without consulting God.
Am I seeking help from someone or something other than God? - Trust the wrong people and things for protection.
Am I trusting the wrong people and/or things to protect me?
Something to Do
Stay in favor with God.
