Something New
1 Kings 12:6
How often do I seek advice from others? How often do reject or accept it?
Something to Do
Let the morning bring word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Psalm 143:8
I AM a morning person. I actually wake up at 3:30am on weekdays and begin my day with RTW. It is dark and so peacefully quiet. I DO need to pray more during that time It’s such a struggle for me. Although I consider myself a “morning person” – I do NOT wake up filled with hope, expectancy, joy … I want so much to wake up joyful and full of hope for the coming day rather than fear, dread and sadness.
Today’s standouts:
Ecclesiastes 11:9(b) and 12:14: We will give an account/God will judge us for everything we do (good or bad). I read one commentary which stated that this fact alone proves that NOTHING is meaningless under the sun. Everything we do, say or think is meaningful to God and from an eternal perspective! Yikes!!! I’m in BIG TROUBLE then… but this:
“This is how the book will end. On this rock we can be destroyed; but it is rock, not quicksand. THERE IS A CHANCE TO REBUILD.” – Kidner (emphasis added)
Rehoboam sought advice from the elders and then rejected it. He didn’t like what they had to say. It started me thinking about the fact that I don’t have people in my life – Godly women – who I seek advice from. I NEED this desperately. I’ve been a lone ranger so long and my flesh always thinks it knows best … but I DESIRE community now. Praying for this.
Fear causes Jeroboam to make his own idols/religion – one that worked better for him. Oh how easy this can be for me to do as well.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Mary, I to am in trouble for my good and bad decisions. I think that some of my decisions I thought were good are probably not good ones in Gods eyes he sees my heart at the time of all my decisions. My prayer is that I always pray for forgiveness for all my sins ( things I realize are sins and things that I may not realize are sins in my life. I am like you in I don’t have people in my life – Godly women – who I seek advice from. I NEED this desperately as well. I’ve been an introvert so long and my flesh always thinks it knows best as well. My fear of community is that I will not be there for others the way I should be but I do DESIRE community
Oh this is exactly how I feel Liza! Thank you for sharing and helping me see that I am NOT alone!!
It is a challenge for me to read and stay focused in Ecclesiastes. Thank you to Wendy for your dedication to the Word. God gives you scriptures that stand out, you think on it and pray on it, and we benefit. Thank you.
