More Blessedness
Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor!
Psalm 41:1a
My Takeaways
Something Old
He has given me a new song – a hymn of praise. (Psalm 40:3)
Something New
There are benefits to being kind: (careful in providing for the future)
- Blessed: (es-sher) happy, blessed
- Rescued: slip away, deliver
- Protection: keep, guard, watch
- Blessed: (aw-shav) happiness in advancing; go, guide, lead
- Restoration: support, stay, strengthen
Something to Do
Sing the new song He put in my heart.
Great lesson today Wendy- thank you!
My takeaway was Psalm 40:1-3. In verse two it spoke about God lifting David out of the pit of despair and setting his feet on solid ground and how God steadied him as he walked along. It’s such a powerful word picture that David paints in these verses. I just related to what he was saying and I know that feeling of God steadying you after He lifts you out of a pit of despair and how God gives us a new song to sing in this experience.
Some things I noted about God from today’s reading:
-He has no equal. (Ps 40:5)
-He is my helper and my savior. (Ps 40:17)
-He lives from everlasting to everlasting. (Ps 41:13)
I was struck by the words, “all our busy rushing ends in nothing”. (Ps 39:6)
“Be kind to the poor” jumped out at me too. I’m thinking about the practical application of that in my own life.
Lastly, I was comforted by the verse that says, “Give your burdens to the LORD and he will take care of you.” (Ps 55:23)
Psalm 39:6 was a good reminder to me to be busy for the right things since my time on earth is limited (Psalm 39:4)
Psalm 40:9- I have told all your people about your justice. I have not been afraid to speak out, as you Lord we’ll know.
To Do- Ask God for boldness to be demonstrative in my faith at all times and spend my time doing the right things.
