RTW April 9

The Praise Of Pain

The entire family got up early the next morning and went to worship the LORD once more.
1 Samuel 1:19

My Takeaways

Something Old

I can’t imagine finally having my prayer answered, then offering it up to God.

Something New

On the heels of her heartfelt, heartbroken prayer, Hannah worshiped the Lord. (1 Samuel 1:19)

On one of the hardest days of her life, Hannah worshiped the Lord. (1 Samuel 1:28)

  • Do I worship when I’m heartbroken?
  • Do I worship when my days are hard?

This is the kind of praise that has a cost…

  • We choose to believe God will even when He hasn’t.
  • We continue to do the things of God.

Praise is not based on a job well-done. It’s based on a sacrificed made… the sacrifice of Jesus.

Through Him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge His name. Hebrews 13:15

Something to Do

Choose to believe.

  1. Eli’s lack of discipline, toward his sons who were doing evil before the Lord, lead to the downfall of his whole family line. This was a reminder to me to be diligent in disciplining and discipling my children. Don’t let them go their own way that leads to their destruction. Seek the Lord on how to handle issues as they arises. Don’t ignore or make light of sin in their life or my own. God despises those who take Him lightly and honors those who honor him.
