My Takeaways

Something Old

Sometimes things don’t change overnight.

  • Hannah never stopped praying.
  • Hannah never stopped hoping.
  • Hannah did not take matters into her on hands.
  • Hannah kept her thoughts on the right things, and was not influenced by the taunting and teasing of others.

Keep praying. Keep hoping. Keep trusting. Something beautiful is about to happen.

  • Pray without ceasing. (ESV) 1 Thessalonians 5:17
  • Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.  James 5:16

Something to Do

  1. Wow! With all the descendants lists in today’s reading, I thought to myself well maybe today won’t be such a derp lesson. That was until the end of the reading. I should never ever doubt that God can speak through any part of his word. Never just never. Wendy’s video was total confirmation from yesterday and what I’ve been going through in my marriage. It’s again very clear. My job is to do what I know to do while God is working, continue praying, keep hoping, be patient, focus on God and my own heart change. God is going to do what I’ve been praying about year after year! It’s going to be amazing and awesome and wonderful! God is our family Redeemer! He is going to redeem all the years, the past and the hurt. I must let go of the desire to control, God said
    “just be patient, my daughter.”
    Ruth 3:18

    It’s in God’s hands. He has the best in mind for my marriage, it’s better than my plan anyway. He loves me and my husband more than we love each other. He is working ALL things for our good, He is working in ALL things!
    So I will pray without ceasing, hope with doubting, and be patient without complaining!

  2. ~In relation to Hannah’s story: Thank God for blessing me with children. Guard against making fun of others or act in a way that might make them jealous of what God has blessed me with whether children, grandchildren or something else.
    ~In 1 Chronicles 2 it says the Jabesh was more honorable than any of his brothers. My takeaway: Honor God by the way I live my life.
    ~1 Chronicles 4 notes that some of the descendants of Shelah were linen workers and others were pottery makers. My takeaway: Use the skills and abilities God has given me to serve others.

  4. So I am one of the late night reader/posters! I wonder if you early morning folks log in and check for the previous day’s add-ons?

    Amidst all the “the descendants of…” paragraphs, one might miss the JEWEL of a verse, the prayer of Jabez:
    He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request. Chronicles 4:10
    I say this prayer daily–Jennifer prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh that you would bless me indeed…” and God granted her request. 🙂

    1. I’ve always wondered that myself. I always go back and check the past few days to see if any late day comments were posted, especially now that I’m not on FB anymore. I don’t ever want to miss anyone’s comments. ❤️
