RTW March 10

The Cost of Doubt

This is the route the Israelites followed as they marched out of Egypt under the leadership of Moses and Aaron.
Numbers 33:1

My Takeaways

Something Old

Even in the wandering they experienced:

  • God’s faithfulness.
  • God’s expectations.
  • God’s discipline.
  • God’s provision.
  • God’s protection.

Yet, unbelief cost them God’s best.

What has unbelief/doubt cost me? Belief is rooted in doubt.

Seeing with my eyes, rather than my seeing with my faith will cost my God’s best.

Something New

The tribes of Reuben and Gad stayed east of Jordan, of the Promised Land. This choice would work against them. (See 1 Samuel 10:28)

Something to Do

See with faith not with sight.

  2. Father,
Thank you for never leaving me, even in seasons of my disobedience, doubt and unbelief. You have always been and remain faithful, you have provided and protected me even when I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to be doing. You are a good Father. You never change, you never leave, you are never distant or unaffectionate towards me. I am who I am because of who you are. You love me unconditionally. No one loves me like you do. No one ever will. You know everything about me, every good, bad, ugly thing, every flaw, every thought, every pain, hurt and scar I’ve ever had. You were with me in my mother’s womb and for every moment of my life since. Even when I didn’t know you, you carried me through everything I’ve ever been through. My earthly dad couldn’t give me what I needed. Only you can fill that gaping hole that he left in my heart. I don’t know what I would do without your love Father. You are perfect in all of your ways, it’s who you are. You are the Good Father I’ve always dreamed of. You want the best and only the best for me. Jesus, you died for me! I cannot express my gratitude fully for how I feel for you Father. I don’t have the proper words for what my heart is feeling. I ask that you would search my heart and my life, that I may shine your love outward to everyone I see. I love you Father, it’s who I am. Love your most grateful daughter, Jennifer ❤️

  3. ~Num 32:12b “for they wholeheartedly followed the LORD.” I want to follow the Lord wholeheartedly. I need to take some to time to think about what that means.

~I always wonder why the 2 1/2 tribes didn’t want to at least see what God had for them in the Promised Land. It seems they settled for less than God’s best. I don’t want to settle for less than God’s best. I also need to think about what that means for me too.

~Guard against being a discouragement to my fellow believers.
