Oh, The Blood
for the life of the body is in its blood. I have given you the blood on the altar to purify you, making you right with the Lord. It is the blood, given in exchange for a life, that makes purification possible.
Leviticus 17:11
My Takeaways
Something Old
I’ve always been squeamish about blood and being around blood; therefore, I tend to skim over passages of Scripture that deal with blood. Today’s key verse was no different, yet as my eyes skimmed, my spirit stirred. The words, “life … is in the blood” jumped off the page. I shoved the queasy feeling aside and paused.
About the blood:
- Blood had to be shed in order to atone, or satisfy an individual’s sin.
- Blood that made the purification possible.
- Blood satisfied the wrongdoing and an exchange was made: one life for another.
The priests were given specific instructions about the blood: it must be drained from the sacrifice on the altar. (Leviticus 1:15) The sacrifice remained on the altar until it was completely void of life.
Something New
Something to Do
Praise God for offering the perfect sacrifice as an atonement for my sin.

Casting Crowns is one if my favorite groups. Thinking if this same song as I read today. Thanks for sharing.
AS I sat down to read this morning my mind was having trouble focusing. I had a text right as I sat down and was frustrated by what it communicated. As I read I got to the verses in ch 19 about not having hate or bitterness or seeking revenge or holding a grudge. God knew what was in my heart and he quickly set me to right! The verses about loving our neighbor as ourselves stood out because my heart was not loving and love is my focus Word this year. Love that God can get to my heart no matter where I’m at in scripture!
Girls I’m starting to fall in love with the book of Leviticus. Did you know that Jesus Christ quoted from the book of Leviticus more then any other book? That in itself should let me know the importance of this book. I have a sermon that I encourage you to take time and listen to. Yes it’s lengthy (about 45 min), but I think you will find it worth your time.

Me too. I didn’t think I’d say this about Leviticus. Thanks for sharing the sermon. I’ll make time this week to listen to it.
Whew loved that song! Thanks Wendy for sharing that today!
Thank you Jesus! Thank you Jesus! Hallelujah! A million times, every moment, every breathe, I owe it all to you! I live for you! My Jesus, you are my everything! You paid the price for me to live!
That song was beautiful! Thank you for sharing Wendy!!
~God is setting His people apart. They are not to act like other people-from Egypt where they used to live or in Canaan where He is taking them.
~God tells them why He is giving them all these rules.”You will find life in them.” (Lev 19:5)
