Wrestle For The Faith

But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people.
Jude 1:3b

My Takeaways

Something Old

I love that Jude didn’t ride the coattails of a blood relationship with Jesus.

Something New

Inward focus:

  • Build each other up in your most holy faith. (Jude 1:20)
  • Pray in the power of the Holy Spirit.  (Jude 1:20)
  • Await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. (Keep the Hope of Jesus coming alive.) (Jude 1:21)

In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.

Outward focus:

  • Show mercy to those whose faith is wavering.  (Jude 1:22)
  • Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. (Don’t abandon those who are flirting with sin.) (Jude 1:23)
  • Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.  (Jude 1:23)

Something to Do

Wrestle well.

  1. I love the words of hope in Rev 1:18. Jesus died but is alive forever and ever! He holds the keys to death and the grave…glory and amen!!

I’m always challenged by Rev 2:4-6. Have I lost my first love? It is easy to get complacent and into a routine in my walk with the lord. I want to fan the flame and keep that first love alive. How do I do this? By doing what I did at first. Pour myself into God’s word anew and pray continually.
