The New Way
The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.
2 Corinthians 3:6b
My Takeaways
Something Old
This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 2:6b
This New Way
- Leads to life (2 Corinthians 2:7)
- Gives greater glory (2 Corinthians 2:8)
- Does not condemn (2 Corinthians 2:9)
- Gives confidence (2 Corinthians 2:12)
- Offers freedom (2 Corinthians 2:17)
- Brings transformation (2 Corinthians 2:18)
Something New
Let others see the glory of God on my face and in my life
Something to Do
Embrace the new life, and live it out loud.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the new covenant that brings life eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 feels like where I am at the moment. “Pressed by trouble, but not crushed. Perplexed but not in despair. Hunted, but never abandoned by God. Knocked down, but not destroyed.”
Then verse 16 reminding us that is why we never give up! For our present trouble won’t last long and with Christ in us, the trouble will produce a glory that lasts forever.
Fix my gaze on God and allow Him to shine through me! The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
2 Cor 5:14 – “Christs love controls us.” I want this to be true of me. I want christs love to control my thoughts, actions, words and motives.
My Takeaways: The veil has been lifted
Something Old: Therefore we never give up. Though our bodies are dying our spirits are being renewed everyday.” 2 Corinthians 4:16 Thank you God for my inner strength that comes from the Holy Spirit that you promised to give. How comforting knowing that each day that passes makes me more like you.
Something New: I don’t want to get caught up in the troubles of this world. I want to focus on what is yet to come. Like when I was a child waiting for Christmas morning. The veil is gone! Like a mirror I reflect the glory of God daily, because the Spirit of God has “lifted the veil” from my face and opened my eyes to see. I can behold His glory; and, as I behold His glory and preoccupy myself with Him, His teaching, His work, His ministry, His nature, then I am transformed, with the help of the Spirit, into His image, a little more each day. What more could I possibly want?
Something To Do: Never lose heart. Know that I am being renewed day by day through my saving faith with Jesus Christ.
