Praying In Weakness
And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness.
Romans 8:26a
My Takeaways
Something Old
The Holy Spirit helps in our weakness of prayer.
- Prays for us with groanings we can’t understand.
- Pleads for us in harmony with God’s own will.
Resulting in
- Perfect results for everyone, who loves God and are called according to His purpose.
Praying in weakness results in perfect prayers.
Something New
I never thought about all creation being free from death and decay. All creation will be green, fresh, and always in bloom.
Something to Do
Thank God for giving me the Holy Spirit. What a gift!!!!
Romans 8:26 jumped out at me this morning. Oh how weak I feel this morning. Starting a new week after a holiday week feels overwhelming. There are financial worries on my mind, issues with my spouse, kids already fussing and fighting and the tasks of the day and week ahead feel too many. I invite the HOly Spirit to come and strengthen me for all that is ahead. He intercedes for me to God and covers me with his strength and hope. Nothing will separate me from His love!
Wonderfully well said. Such a relief to know that when I am at a loss for the right words to pray, the Holy Spirit will take over and do the work for me. What a good time of year to remember this and the other free gifts given to us by God.
My Takeaways: Missions: My Privilege in Salvation
Something Old: Romans 10:14-15 I must take God’s Great message of salvation to others so that they can respond to the good news. I must be more than just a good example. I must share the why behind my lifestyle. As long as there are people that have never heard the gospel, I must commit myself in getting the good news to them. It starts locally. Praying for the salvation of those I have regular contact with is easy but I also need to look for opportunities to talk to them about my Savior. My something old can become a beautiful something new to someone else, when I take the time to share in what I know.
Something New: In todays reading Paul made clear the truths that surround the incredible work of God in my salvation. A common fear today is that my salvation in Christ may be lost, that by some sin or neglect God’s gracious gift may be forfeited. How sad for me to admit that it wasn’t all that long ago that I believed this lie and struggled with the thought of losing my salvation. To fear losing salvation is to doubt God at His word, and it is to diminish the work of Christ on my behalf. It is to say that what He did was not enough to secure my place in heaven with Him. God does not want me to live like that. He wants me to rest in Him. What God has given to me, He has promised never to take back. My salvation, then, rests in the trustworthy word of God, who has vowed to seal me for all eternity. How blessed I am today to understand this truth and know for a fact that my salvation is secure through Christ.
Something To Do: Thank God that I have a secure salvation through his son Jesus. Share this truth by educating myself about world missions. Reading about missions. Giving to the cause of missions. Praying for the missionary work that is going out to all the world.
This section of Romans contains some of my favorite and most reassuring scriptures.
Romans 26-28 Knowing that the Holy Spirits intercedes for us in our weakness is so reassuring! So many times I just don’t have the words, so I think of this verse and ask the Holy Spirit to speak for my heart. I’m also thankful for the reminder that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him. I am grateful.
Romans 8:31…If God is for us, who can ever be against us? There is so much safety in this passage.
Romans 38-39 NOTHING can ever separate us from God’s love that is revealed in Jesus!
I belong to God. His Spirit is joined to my spirit. I am His child. ??❤️
