The Mind Of Christ

For, “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:16

My Takeaways

Something Old

I have the mind of Christ…. mind blown.

Something New

Having the mind of Christ means we understand God’s plan in the world

  • to bring glory to Himself
  • restore creation to its original splendor
  • provide salvation for sinners

In the verses leading up to 1 Corinthians 2:16, we note some truths concerning the mind of Christ:

1)  Stands in sharp contrast to the wisdom of man (1 Corinthians 2:5-6).

2) Involves wisdom from God, once hidden but now revealed (1 Corinthians 2:7).

3) Is given to believers through the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 2:10-12).

4) Cannot be understood by those without the Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:14).

5) Gives believers discernment in spiritual matters (1 Corinthians 2:15).

  1. Acts 18:24-28 talked about Apollos. The part that stood out to me was that he had been taught the scriptures and he was teaching them to others with enthusiasm and accuracy. I have opportunities to teach young kids the word and women. Am I teaching with accuracy and enthusiasm? Am I just hustling through my lessons and not preparing enough to have accuracy and passion?

I also was struck by the benefits that we have innGod through Christ in 1 Cor 1:30-31.
    – united in Christ
    – have godly wisdom
    – made right with God
    – we are pure and holy
    – freed from sin
Because of all these things we only have Christ to boast in…nothing we have comes from our own making. God gets all the glory!

      1. I live ins Wyoming but I’d travel to North Carolina or elsewhere to have the chance to see the RTW family in person!!

        1. Well since I live almost smack in the middle, I say we meet in Missoui. Let’s commit. Who is willing?

  2. Wow, Wendy, this was a powerful lesson! Thank you. I haven’t thought much about the fact that I have the mind of Christ. Wow! What an awesome gift and an awesome responsibility. As I look back and see myself growing in my faith, this helps me understand that God is revealing more and more to me as He sees that I am ready. May I always listen, always obey, and always give all glory and honor to God!

  3. My Takeaways: True Wisdom

Something Old: As I read 1 Corinthians today I was reminded that knowing Christ personally is the greatest wisdom anyone can have. So how does this happen?
    1. Believe that He is who He claimed to be.
    2. Read the Bible, His Word.
    3. Let His Spirit fill me and allow me to grow.
    4. Pray for His wisdom.
    5. Attend a Bible believing church that will allow me to fellowship and live out my life with other believers.
When I know Christ personally I will fall totally in love with who He is and He alone will give me focus and direction for my life.

Something New: 1 Corinthians 3:18-23 Worldly Knowledge vs. Godly Wisdom
    1. Worldly Knowledge wants me to follow my heart; But Godly Wisdom comes from the very heart of God, He freely gives it when I ask.
    2. Worldly Knowlege says I have to see it in order to believe it; But Godly Wisdom says I believe without ever seeing.
    3. Worldly Knowledge assumes that I will love those who are close to me; But Godly Wisdom allows me to love everyone, even my enemies.
    4. Worldly Knowlege is based on human knowledge; But Godly Wisdom is from God and reflects who He is.
    5. Worldly Knowledge thinks there are many roads that lead to God; But Godly Wisdom knows that there is only one way to God, Jesus Christ.
    6. Godly Wisdom produces the Fruits of the Spirit within me, and the World’s knowledge begins to see that God’s Wisdom is taking root in my life.

Something To Do: Believe the message of the cross and know the power of Godly Wisdom in my life. Pray for those who feel that the message of the cross is foolishness.
