The Way To Please God
Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God,…
1 Thessalonians 4:1a
My Takeaways
Something Old
I love encouragement! Everyone loves encouragement.
Something New
- Live holy not impure lives (1 Thessalonians 4:7)
- Love each other (1 Thessalonians 4:9)
- Live a quiet life (1 Thessalonians 4:11)
Something to Do
Offer encouragement to someone today.
1 Thess 5:9-11 stood out to me. God choose me for salvation and because of Jesus death and resurrection he will not pour out His anger on me. When Jesus returns, whether I am dead or alive, he will catch me up in the clouds to meet him and live with him forever! What a sweet day that will be! So thankful and overwhelmed by this salvation!! What great hope I have because I’d Jesus!
My Takeaway: Paul’s Teachings
Something Old: Paul continues his mission. His strategy was the same wherever he went. Some believed and some argued. If enough people were converted, then Paul would start a church there. Paul was an amazing man and left his mark wherever he went.
Something New: “So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” Am I an encourager? To be the encourager God wants me to be I need to count on his constant help. I have to avoid evil at all costs. Paul says encouragers are patient, joyful, peaceful, cooperative, kindhearted, respectful, loving, thankful and supportive. By being an encourager to others I’m living out what the Bible commands.
Something to Do: Praise God, that He has given me the Spirit, to open my eyes and understand the importance of giving my love to Christians and non-Christians and to become the encourager to others in the way that he would want me to.
My simple summary of 1 Thessalonians 4:1-12
Live in a way that pleases God.
God’s will is for me to be holy.
Remain pure.
Love each other.
Live a quiet life.
