We Are Influencers
As a result, other Jewish Christians followed Peter’s hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.
Galatians 2:13
My Takeaways
Something Old
We are all influencers.
- We influence for the cause of Christ.
- We influence against the cause of Christ.
“No man’s standing is so secure that he may not fall. If Peter fell, I may fall. If he rose again, I may rise again. We have the same gifts that they had, the same Christ, the same baptism and the same Gospel, the same forgiveness of sins.” (Luther)
Something New
Pay attention to the Peters in my life
Something to Do
How am I using my influence?
Wow! This lesson is so timely as I am challenged with the conviction of how much time I spend seeking approval from co-workers and the Lord was telling me this morning that I am called to stand out at my job – to shine the light. I love what Wendy said about it bejng dangerous to try to please people. Why is it dangerous? Because in so doing, I let down my devotion to God. I can’t serve both God and mammon. People pleasing and seeking approval can be my mammon.
Lord – help me walk in the power and authority You have given me at the cross. Help me be the influencer You have created me to be.
Love your thoughts! I felt the same challenge in today’s reading.
Thanks! It’s nice to know I’m not alone in this ?
My Takeaways: Saved by Grace
Something Old: Man is saved by grace alone, in Christ alone and through faith in Christ and nothing else. This is the message that Paul gave in today’s reading and applies to me today. Jesus Christ came to fulfill the law. He did the work. I am free in Christ. I cannot earn my salvation through my behavior. The law was given to show me what a sinner I am.There is no way that I can ever follow it, that is why Jesus had to come. On my own I’m nothing and can do nothing, but by the grace of God I am everything. My life should always be living out this truth. I cannot do anything that would cause God to love me more or to love me less. Because of Christ, I am free from all self justification! I can rest in Him!
Something New: A great reading today in Galatians chapter 2 when Paul confronts Peter! What a good lesson for me today. It is ok for me to confront other Christians when they are out of line as long as I do it
in the spirit of love. When I speak the truth in love to my brothers and sisters who step out of line I prevent them from falling away. I learned something today from the example of Paul confronting Peter!
Something To Do: Live my life by putting all my faith in Jesus.
