  1. It was made very clear in today’s reading that I am never to accept worship or glory from other people. Any praise or glory that I receive is to be given right back to the Lord. If anyone would ever start to act like they were worshiping me or my abilities I would want to immediately stop them and point them to the Lord who gave me the abilities. Only God is worthy of praise and all praise should be given to Him. Taking praise from God will never lead to good things.

  2. My Takeaways: Share what God has done

Something Old: The earnest prayers of the church certainly played an important role in the rescue of Peter in today’s reading. Prayer definitely changes things.
“… Peter is standing at the door!”
“You’re out of your mind!” They said. When she insisted they decided it must be his angel.” -Acts 12:14-15
Their prayers were answered, but they didn’t believe it. I must be a person of faith and believe in my prayers. God does and will answer prayers when I seek his will. I sadly sometimes see myself just like this group. When my prayers are finally answered, I’m surprised. If I am praying for a miracle then I should expect a miracle and have a very deep gratitude for God, in answering my prayers, not a feeling of surprise.

Something New: Acts 13:9, Saul is called Paul. He was given a new name and a new purpose, a new direction in life. When I came to Christ for salvation, He gave me a new name — Christian — as well as a new hope, a new purpose, and a new direction in life. Like Paul, God has work for me to do and that work is to share the Gospel with those who will listen. I am called to bear witness to what Jesus has done to free me from sin.

Something To Do: Believe and have faith in the power of prays, praying often and with confidence. Be a part of helping the Word of God increase and spread in the world today, tell someone!
