Beware Of The Robbers

I tell you the truth, anyone who sneaks over the wall of a sheepfold, rather than going through the gate, must surely be a thief and a robber!
John 10:1

My Takeaways

Something Old

Always thought the enemy who came to steal, kill, and destroy was satan.

Something New

The Shepherd:

  • Calls by name…. He has a personal relationship with us and personal interest in us.
  • Leads… He doesn’t drive… they follow Him because they know Him.
  • Protects… He will not allow harm come to His sheep.
  • Lays down His life… He is willingly to died for His sheep.

The Sheep:

  • Know his voice
  • Won’t be tricked and lead away
  • Trust’s the shepherd and the life the shepherd provides
  • Aren’t fooled by the unfaithful counterfeit life the enemies…false shepherds try to provide

Something to Do

Keep my eyes open for false shepherds.

  1. Preach it Wendy!! Love this new perspective and the warning it gives all of us to be on the lookout for false shepherds. Amen!!❤️

  2. Thanks for another great lesson Wendy! I love thinking about the new perspectives you share with us. I have never considered the idea that the Pharisees could be the false shepherds – the thieves. But of course!
I really am enjoying RTW. I like the format with the chronological Bible and the succinct powerful lessons from Wendy! Thank you.

  3. Absolutely awesome lesson!! I never made this connection either so thank you for enlightening me with that!!!

  4. My Takeaways: Jesus is My Good Shepherd

Something Old: John 10:22-42 Has to be one of the greatest passages of the whole New Testament. Jesus is the true Shepherd. He is the Messiah, the One who came in fulfillment of all the Old Testament prophecies. Only He can give me life in all its fullness. All I have to do is walk through the gate.  After I walk through the gate of faith to fullness of life with Jesus, he will be my Good Shepherd forever.  He is a shepherd that knows me and I know him.  He will protect me with his rod and staff.  And more than anything else, this Good Shepherd laid down his life for me. Jesus is the gateway to salvation.  Life in relationship with Jesus will be full of green pastures. I am blessed to have walked through the gate. The world in which I live is dangerous. If I am wise I will always trust the good shepherd, keep my ears attuned to His voice, and respond to Him when He calls.

Something New: John 10:28 -29 “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.” This world is Satin’s territory. The world is where I live. This could be very frightening. But Jesus is my Good Shepherd (protector) from eternal harm. I follow Him. My eternal life can never be taken away. God is more powerful than any enemy I will ever face. I can trust that my Shepherd will give me everlasting safety. Now that is some very comforting knowledge. This truth gives me great hope.

Something To Do: Pray in thanksgiving to Jesus for laying down his life for me. Thank him for being my Good Shepherd! Pray for the lost “sheep” that they would come to know Jesus as their Good Shepherd.
