RTW September 3

Toothpick Please

He ate grass like a cow, and he was drenched with the dew of heaven.
Daniel 4:33b

My Takeaways

Something Old

Sometimes we have to eat a little grass.  All glory goes to God.  All the time.  The minute I forget that, I will need a toothpick.

Something New

Something to Do

Keep my pride in check, and remember who is charge and who gets the glory.

  2. “and none can stay his hand, or say to him, “What have you done?” Daniel 4:35b

How often have I thought about this truth and the fact that God does what He does…nothing is too hard for God, nothing can stop God’s will.
What a comforting thought as I think of a lot of the things that trouble my heart. I might fret and worry that something
can’t happen or will not work out but knowing God’s Word and that nothing can stop His hand reassures me that He is in control not me and He can do anything. He always does what is right and good.

Oh Father, this is one of the most wonderful Truths in Your Word. How very thankful that I can rest in the fact that You are in control not me.
I can know that all Your works are right and Your ways are just. You are able to humble me when I walk in pride thinking what I have done is because of me.
I thank You because of this truth I can also rest in knowing Your will will be accomplished in our upcoming election for our country.
You rule the kingdoms of men and You give it to whom You will.
Again You remind me that You are in charge. Help me to follow Your lead and be sensitive to walk according to Your Word and Truth.
In Your sovereign Name I pray,
    Amen

  3. My something new- I never realized that King Nebuchadnezzer ate grass. I have never eaten grass before either like Wendy. My dog that I used to have that she ate lots of grass when her stomach was hurting her and she wasn’t feeling well. I liked seeing Maxi in the background outside. I love dogs so much!!!!!

  4. My Takeaways: God is Sovereign

Something Old: Daniel 4- Looks like King Nebuchadnezzar suffered from a real illness called, boanthropy. Which is a psychological disorder in which the sufferer believes he or she is a cow or ox. Nebuchadnezzar was humbled by God for boasting about his achievements, when his sanity was later restored he praised and honored God. God showed the king who was really in control! Nebuchadnezzar had to be humbled before he could be exalted again. When God punishes me it is always for a holy and helpful purpose. This is often hard to see in my own life but through history I know it to be true. God is all-knowing, and he is in charge of world events. God over rules and removes rebellious people who defy him. God will overcome evil, no one is exempt. But he will deliver the faithful who follow him. What a beautiful and great thing to know.

Something New: Ezekiel 4O- Ezekiel’s temple is confusing to me. The best that I can see is that Ezekiel was able to give the people some hope for the future. He was able to let them know that there would be a day when God would not forsaken His people and that His relationship with them would be restored to a new level. Sounds like the same hope and promises that I have through Jesus Christ. Reminds me of the song sang by Aaron Shust My Hope Is In You.

Something To Do: Wait on the Lord He is my refuge
