RTW August 9
Girls-
Acclimating from vacation was a little rough for me. I got the dates mixed up and thought today was the 8th. Please forgive me, but I recorded First 5, got home late, and wasn’t able to record a new video for today.
Hopefully I will be back on game soon.
Weary Warrior
Then the Lord replied, “I will take care of you, Jeremiah.”
Jeremiah 15:11a
My Takeaways
Something Old
Even in during the toughest assignments He will take care of us and will be our everlasting portion when we grow weary.
Something New
In the midst of the tough assignments from God, it is easy to become discouraged and wrongly influenced by the very people we are trying to influence.
Power verses for the weary warriors:
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. (NIV) Psalm 73:26
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (NIV) Galatians 6:9
But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. (NIV) 1 Peter 2:20b
Something to Do
Return to God. Let Him restore me.
My Takeaway: Receive what God has to Offer
Something Old: As I read todays lesson it was sad. God chose the people of Israel through whom he could show his care for the world. He gave them so much, poured his love all over them and look what he got in return! My heart went out to Jeremiah too. He knew of the coming destruction and prayed against it. God told him to stop. God continuously told the people “come back to me”, “repent”, “abandon your idols” – but no one listened. God was giving them chance after chance after chance of repentance. Just as it was back in the day, God does the same today. The sadess I felt when reading today has become my reality as I listen to the news. Jesus’ life, ministry, suffering, death on the cross, and His resurrection saved us from our sins – Why can’t we give him what He deserves before it’s too late for us too.
Something New: I love the exchanges between God and Jeremiah in chapter 15. “When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, O Lord God Almighty.” That’s my hope as I Read Thru the Word. I want to be spiritually fed . But most important I want to be able to devour it . God’s words bring me joy and are my heart’s delight. HIs name is written on my heart. There is no reason to refuse God’s food. He wants everyone to come to the table and eat what he has to offer.
Something To Do: Give God my best. Come to his table ready to feast.
