Don’t Neglect The Praise
Let all that I am praise the LORD.
Psalm 104:1a, 35b
My Takeaways
Something Old
All that I am is translated as soul, meaning, self, life, creature, person, appetite, mind, living being, desire, emotion and passion.
Something New
Don’t neglect to praise Him. He is so worthy of my praise.
Something to Do
Seek forgiveness for neglecting to give Him the praise He is worthy of.
My Takeaways: More Praises
Something Old: The 5 Psalms I read were a lot like yesterday and reminded me again on the importance of praising my Lord. When I googled the word praise this came up “express warm approval or admiration of, to express a favorable judgment of, commend, to glorify (a god or saint) especially by the attribution of perfections.” Praise is a natural response for who God is and what He’s done.
Something New: My focus today as I read was on Psalm 102. This is the psalm to turn to when I am overwhelmed with guilt, worry, and anxiety. God never changes he is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. I can trust Him in my life today because I know what he did for His people in the past. He is perfectly consistent. I am often inconsistent, but my inconsistencies do not change God’s consistency. This Psalm is very encouraging for me when I am facing troubles in my life. God’s face seems hidden sometimes and prayers appear unanswered, but this psalm gives me hope. This Psalm is a great reminder to me on the importance to pray. To bring my troubles to the Lord. God does not change. God is the one sure thing in life that I can count on – forever.
Something To Do: Lean on God to provide me with my comfort and strength through prayers. Remember that the world will one day end but God my creator will always stick around, he is eternally with me, even when I feel all alone.
I love your comment that God is perfectly consistent, even when we are not. Some days I’m right there on top of the mountain with my faith and other days the doubts and worries creep in. So reassuring that God is there with me in all my inconsistencies. Thanks for that reminder.
You’re welcome.
Oh my these were some beautiful Psalms today. I love the promise in Psalm 102 for those who pour out their hearts to him “for the Lord will rebuild Jerusalem. He will appear in his glory. He will listen to the prayers of the destitute. He will not reject their pleas” vv 16, 17. That he looks down to earth from heaven to hear the groans of the prisoners and to release those condemned to die-all we need to do is call out to him and he is there. The God of the universe, the creator of all that was, is and is to come. The one who gives life and breath-I am nothing without you Lord. You are my creator, my sustainer, my provider, and the one who has given my very life, the one who causes my heart to beat
104:16. The trees of the Lord are well cared for – the cedars of Lebanon that he planted
In this season of auto aloneness and at times I’m wondering where God is and what he is doing (or NOT doing) he continues to make himself known to me and how he cares for me. Today for instance, I received a card in the mail from a dear friend letting me know how much my friendship means to her. What a gift in a season when I have been feeling there is nobody who cares.
Thank you for sharing Mary. I’m so glad you are finding reassurance in God’s Word during your difficult time. I love your reminder that He is always there, all we must do is call out to Him. I especially need that reminder in one area of my life right now. I will pray for you.
I so enjoyed reading your comments, thanks for sharing. I am sorry to hear that you are going through hard times. A wise woman you are to turn to God in your time of need. I too, will keep you up in prayer.
Wendy, I love your phrase, “Praise God for who He is, not just for what He has done.” In times of difficulty I guess sometimes I neglect the praise and jump right into the asking. Today I am reminded to refocus on praise.
Psalm 102:18 also caught my attention today. The psalmist says “Let this be recorded for future generations, so that a people not yet born will praise the Lord.” We are the people who were not yet born! I love that connection to the past. It can also be our connection to future generations. We can work to build the family of God so that future generations will know and praise Him.
So true. Thank you for sharing. I always enjoy reading your post. The more people that share the more that is brought to my attention. I am able to learn so much more when I get to read other people’s takeaways.
