Be a Tree

But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon.
Psalm 92:12

My Takeaways

Something Old

Who are the godly?
translated as righteous and means just, lawful, and righteous.

Flourish means to bud, sprout, shoot or bloom. My favorite part is: sends out shoots, causes to bud or shoot. Our flourishing will cause others to flourish. We can “pollinate” our Christianity to others.

Something New

The tree flourishes in the King’s Court.

  1. My Takeaways: Praising God

Something Old: The Psalms that I read today made me stop and take a pause into exactly who God is and what he has done for me. Can I ever thank Him enough! How do I show my appreciation? Tell others! It is the responsibility of the church to spread the God News. Who is the church? I’m the church, you’re the church. We are the church together. The job isn’t complete until all the peoples of the earth hear of His righteousness and truth.

Something New: I’m going to follow in Wendy’s footsteps and become a word nerd today. I feel like what Aaron Ferguson had to say fits perfect for what I read today in the book of Psalm. When I refer to something or someone as a “thrill” today, I am usually summarizing an emotional sensation, a tingling or shivering that I have experienced; but, the origin of the word “thrill” is much deeper, much more significant than that. To thrill means to drill, to pierce, or to penetrate to the core, as with something sharp. The knowledge of who God is and what He’s done for me is not simply meant to wow me or make me feel good. The reality of my God bores a hole in my heart and fulfills a need only He can meet. He is not a thrill to me like a rollercoaster ride, a touching story, or a cold wind. He is the thrill of my soul, and the thought of Him, though hard for me to imagine at times, delights me deeply in a way that nothing else and no one else can. When David tried to describe this thrill, he said, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me. It is too great for me to understand” (Psalm 139:6). Oh what a thrill our God is!

  2. Forgot my Something To Do: Love the Lord and hate evil. Praise Him for His promise to save me and return again. Respect God’s name and give Him praise by my words and my life. Share his righteousness and truths to everyone I know!
