Be still, and know that I am God!

My Takeaways

Something Old

Still

to sink, relax, sink down, let drop, refrain, abate (to suspend or extinguish)

refrain: to abstain from an impulse to say or do something

Know

be acquainted with, find out and discern, to discriminate, distinguish, to know by experience

Something New

But each day the LORD pours His unfailing love upon me…  Psalm 42:8

I just love this! Don’t you?

  1. I love this lesson and I love Psalm 46! As an introvert, I know myself well enough to know I MUST have a quiet, still time each day. And I choose to have this time with God’s word.

Too often I find myself “scurrying around to make a plan, to accomplish things, to make things happen!” Honestly, I would be more effective if I stopped to be still for a little while and let God lead my activity.

I also love vs 1-2. “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when the earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.” He is right there, ready to help in troubled times. Our refuge. Our strength. We can rest in this knowledge. Thanks be to God!

  2. My Takeaways: More Psalms

Something Old: I read 5 Psalms today. All written by Korah’s descendents who were godly people.

Something New: The Psalms I read today captured my heart. The focus was a struggle between depression and faith. First the psalmist reminded himself of the things God had done for him. Next he was encouraged by all of God’s blessings. Finally he lifted his spirits by praising God’s nature and character. “Be silent and know that I am God” (46:10), makes good sense. God is the only hope I need. I will continue to put all my faith in Him.

Something To Do: Don’t ever give up. Focus on and trust God’s unfailing love. Cry out to Him.
