Flowing Peace and Rolling Righteous
Oh, that you had listened to my commands!…
Isaiah 48:18a
My Takeaways
Something Old
“At just the time I will respond to you.” Isaiah 49:8
God’s not ignoring me. He’s working and waiting for just the right time to respond.
Something New
What have I missed because I didn’t listen to God’s commands? Oh, my heart aches.
Obedience with a
- Pause: a delayed response
- Clause: an if, then response
- Cause: a this is important to me response
Something to Do
Obey, so I don’t needlessly experience what God never intended me to experience.
Ride the river of peace and run around in the righteousness rolling over me.
My Takeaways: God Never Changes
Something Old: Isaiah 48:1-7 God knew from the beginning of time that he would send the world a Savior, the Messiah- Jesus Christ. He would bring salvation to the ends of the earth. When the time was right.
Something New: Isaiah 48:20 “Yet even now, be free from your captivity! Leave Babylon and the Babylonians. Seeing out this message! Shout it to the ends of the Earth! The Lord has redeemed his servants the people of Israel.”
“Yet even now…” In my fallen flesh, I despised God and His Word. In my sins, I rebelled against His commands. In my self worship, I betrayed Him and attempted to take His throne. Yet EVEN NOW, He loves me, and wants to remove that shame and guilt far from my mind and give me a right spirit. He has redeemed me, and He has made a way for me to be right with Him, all a gift to me, at the expense of His Servant, the Lord Jesus. No wonder they were shouting with joy! What joy it was when He freed me from my captivity, I, too, want to shout for joy and let the world know the GOOD NEWS! I want to tell everyone that now is the time to repent, turn away from sin and open their hearts to Jesus Christ. He alone can give comfort, security, and relief. Jesus Christ is waiting with open arms to give all who come to him, His peace. EVEN NOW, that’s worth shouting about!
Something To Do: Spread the Good News and support missionary work with my prayers and money.
Oops, my something old is from Isaiah 49:1-7, NOT 48: 1-7.
