In The Image Of My Idol

And those who make idols are just like them, as are all who trust in them.
Psalm 115:8

My Takeaways

Something to Old

Idol Image:

  • mouths cannot speak truth, love, compassion and the things of Christ.
  • eyes cannot see God’s work around us.
  • ears cannot hear His voice speaking to us.
  • nose cannot smell the aroma of His presence.
  • hands cannot sense His mercy and grace when He extends it.
  • feet cannot follow His ways.
  • throat cannot utter a sound to Him.

Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to Your name goes all the glory for Your unfailing love and faithfulness.
Psalm 115:1

Something New

What’s better?

  • To take refuge in the LORD, rather than trust in people
  • To take refuge in the LORD, rather than to trust princes

(Psalm 118:8-9)

Something to Do

Allowing myself to be fully shaped in the image in which I was created.

  1. My Takeaways: God is Love

Something Old: The 4 Psalms I read today were all about God’s love. God has always loved me and He will continue to give of Himself to me for the rest of time. There is no greater love than His love! “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:30, 31).

Something New: Psalm 117- I didn’t realize until today that this is the shortest chapter in the Bible containing only two verses. It’s also the middle chapter. In addition to that, Paul quotes from this Psalm in Romans 15:11 to show that God’s salvation is for all people not just the Jews. God’s plan has always been the same. He loves everyone and wants all to come to Him. Don’t you find it interesting that other religions require people to sacrifice themselves for misleading gains. For example, Islam’s God requires the followers to kill themselves and others, to attain their approval and a place in paradise. But my God sacrificed Himself on my behalf, so that I might gain from His love. He loves me with an everlasting love! John 15:13 “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Wow, what love he has for me!

Something To Do: Praise and worship God for His unlimited love. Live to serve Him!
