A Dream Come True
Next year at this time you will be holding a son in your arms!
2 Kings 4:16a
My Takeaways
Something Old
Sometimes the “next” day seems like forever away, much less the next year.
Dream – series of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations occurring involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep.
God did not forget about the dream in your heart.
The woman trusted God and His timing with the dream in her heart.
We have to trust God with our dreams, and believe that the plan He has for our life is better than the dream we have in our heart.
Something New
This was not just any widow. This was the widow of a prophet: a woman I feel sure that Elisha must have known through his relationship with Elijah. One commentary suggested that she may have been married to Obadiah, who hid 100 prophets in caves to protect them from Ahab. The commentary further suggested he had to borrow money to feed them, thus leading to a large debt. It was customary when debts could not be repaid for wives and/or children to be taken as slaves in payment for the debt. The “poor widow” could not let that happen. She took action.
Something to Do
Trust God with the dream in my heart. Trust His timing to bring it to fruition.
Good morning RTW friends! Since our lesson is all about miracles today I wanted to share my miracle girl with you. I have had many miracles in my life but the one that was most life-changing for me happened with my granddaughter 13 years ago. Please view our miracle girl video and feel free to share it with anyone. I am happy to say that after 8 surgeries, 3 years on oxgen and in a full body case my Ariana is a healthy 13 year old girl today with absolutely no health problems at all. The doctors said she would be blind, deaf, and basically just a vegetable, but God had a different plan. I am so thankful that God is still in the business of delivering miracles today. So here’s the link to our video, check it out! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ievi_sjUP4U
Amazing to see such a beautiful miracle from God. She has already touched a lot of lives that have seen that she was a miracle baby
My Takeaways: More Miracles
Something Old: 2 Kings 2:11 “…Elijah was carried away by a whirlwind into heaven.” Just like Enoch, Elijah was taken to heaven without dying. Jesus too, was taken to heaven in his bodily form all three had to walk with God. Elijah’s disappearance was interesting in the way in which it happened, with chariots and horses of fire. This is encouraging. Just for a few seconds, the physical world in which they lived was pealed back revealing the spiritual world. There is much more to my existence than what I see and experience with my senses. So much goes on behind the scenes that I am not aware of, and I like it when the Lord gives me a glimpse of it.
Something New: So refreshing to get away from the wicked kings and God’s harsh judgement. It was fun to read today about the miracles God provided through Elisha. First I read about the poor widow, then the boy who was brought back to life, next purifying poisonous food, and finally providing food for a hundred men. Even through all the rebellion, God still took the time to show his tender and caring side to those who were faithful to him. These miracles were accomplished in the wicked kingdom of Israel, though the kings were not acknowledging God’s authority, He was still working His good purposes. Even though Israel had grown increasingly godless, the Lord still had a faithful remnant of people trusting in Him. Each of Elisha’s miracles not only encouraged those faithful to God but enlarged their faith in Him. Miracles still occur in my sight everyday. It’s just that sometimes I am oblivious to them. My whole life is a miracle. I just need to open my eyes and look around.
Something To Do: I serve a powerful God who can move heaven and earth to fulfill His purposes. He is still in the miracle business today. My job is to believe and have faith in God and trust Him with my whole being. When I do that his awesome power is revealed.
