Bitter vs Blessings

Then I realized that my heart was bitter and I was all torn up inside.
Psalm 73:21

My Takeaways

Something Old

khaw-mates -sour, grieved, pungent

innermost part (torn up inside)

If I get bitter, confess it, receive his restoration and move on. Don’t wallow in what they have and I don’t have.
Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up.  (NIV)  Psalm 71:20

Something New

Thinking about others, and what they have, robs me of what I have.

Something To Do

Focus on my blessings rather than being bitter.

  1. Dear Father,
Please keep greed and envy out of my heart. Remove all bitterness from my heart. Restore Your peace within me so that I am not all torn up inside. Restore my soul. Give me peace with my circumstances. Restore me unto You. Shalom.

  2. My Takeaways: 3 Psalms written by Asaph

Something Old: We have encountered Asaph before. I remember he was the one who lead the singers when they transported the Ark to Jerusalem for the temple.

Something New: Psalm 73:17 “Then I went into your sanctuary, O God, and I finally understood the destiny of the wicked.” Asaph finally realizes that the wicked wealthy have ruin lifes because they live outside of God’s presence. To live righteously in a world where the lives of the rich and powerful appear trouble free is hard to swallow until one realizes the rewards that await them. One day justice will be done. The wicked will die and everything will be lost, but when the righteous, godly people die, they will receive eternal wealth that will last forever. Nothing is better then that. It just makes good sense to invest in my eternal life while here on earth and forget about how the wicked seem to prosper. All to often I get caught up in my security here on earth and what everyone else seems to have. I forget that the Lord is the only security I need. He has great wisdom. When judgement day comes my way, the wealth of the wicked, will wish they were me. That they understood the reality of God’s truth and had invested in him. So instead of being envious and jealous – I need to share the reality of God’s truth to everyone that will listen and remember that I have the kind of wealth that will last forever.

Something to do: Stay faithful. Concentrate on my future with God for my wealth. Get to know God now before it’s to late and don’t hesitate to share what I know to those whose life seem so appealing for the time being.

    1. So glad you are back! I have missed your posts. Yes, and Amen, to all you have shared.

      1. So nice to be missed. I went with my husband on his business trip and left my phone charger at home. 🙁 My phone was dead for most of the trip. But at least I had my Bible and could still read the lessons. I have no computer so when I’m without a phone I am completely lost.

  3. So agree with jreed! I have missed you too! I enjoy reading your take on the lessons! ??
