God is my shield, saving those whose hearts are true and right.
Psalm 7:10

My Takeaways

Something Old

Shiggaion  lyrical poem composed under strong mental emotion

We ask God

  • For deliverance from it or the grace to go through it (Psalm 7:1).
  • Search our hearts for any truth in what is being said (Psalm 7:3), if so, confess it to God and make it right with those involved. If not, give it to God and move on.
  • Rest in God’s defense and restoration. (Psalm 7:10)
  • Thank God for His resolution of the situation

Something New

Cush could be: Saul, Shimei, or some one named Cush

Something to Do

Rest in God’s defense and restoration of me.

  1. My Takeaways: God Never Forgets

Something Old: “What can I do for you? How can I make amends so that you will bless the Lord’s people again?” (2 Sam. 21:3). Not sure if I understand all this. But this I’m sure of, Saul’s acts from the past against the Gibeonites are causing problems years later. David delivers seven of Saul’s descendants, including Saul’s concubine’s two sons, into the hands of the Gibeonites, who hang them. After David returns the bones of Saul and Jonathan to the country of the Benjamites and buries them there, it begins to rain. God’s going to get the attention of his people even if it means controlling the weather. I think they noticed. I know that Saul broke the vow that the Israelites made to the Gibeonites and this was a serious offense against God’s law. I can see that God takes seriously the mistreatment of those His people have vowed to protect, no matter how much time has past. But I still don’t understand why Saul’s Sons had to pay the price. So much that I don’t uderstand.

Something New: Psalm 7 David cries out to God for Justice. What a wonderful Psalm.

Something To Do: When it’s easy to strike back I must remember to turn to God. I can always trust that God will always bring justice and fairness to all situations. Sometimes God stops evil in its tracks other times God allows evil, hurting innocent people. My job is not to figure it all out, but to trust and know that justice will be served. Maybe not in my lifetime, but in His time. I must always seek God’s protection, involve him in all my activities and thank him for always being there for me even when I don’t understand. He is God, I must never forget.
