  1. My Takeaways:
Another book completed and what a book it was! The book of Deuteronomy has made it very clear and important to me to trust, love, listen and obey, because it’s the only way to be 100% committed to God and show him how much I love him.

Something Old: Our beloved prophet Moses has died. “There has never been another prophet in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face.” -Deuteronomy 34:10
Wow! What a servant to God! God did a great work in Moses and it was God whom he continued to love, respect and give the glory to. God can do the same for me and you.

    Something New: Rahab-Joshua 2
What a woman of faith! I thought of Deuteronomy 29:29 today when I read Rahab story. I don’t think Rahab was accountable for her sin of lying to the King of Jericho. She did not know the laws that the Israelites followed. “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor” was not something that she would of been aware of. She wasn’t an Israelite. Though she lied, I don’t think she was held accountable for that sin. Rahab knew what she was doing was very dangerous, but she took the risk anyway. I think she sensed that the Israelites worshipped the one true living God. She had heard what their God had done for them over the last 40 years. (Deuteronomy 2:8-10) I think Rahab definitely turned to God for her salvation on that night. Because of her faith, belief and trust, God rewarded Rahab. He made sure she and her family were safe. He continues to do that for me today. Rahab’s actions revealed her heart.
Did anyone notice that Rahab used a scarlet cord to hang out the window? Remember Tamar also tied a scarlet thread around the wrist of her first son. This color, scarlet must be significant. Isn’t it amazing how God used these girls (least likely to me) to be in the same family as Jesus? God can use anyone, if we just open our heart to him and let him in.

Something To Do: Keep an open heart so I can understand God’s plans for me. Believe what God’s words say. Put my trust in Jesus and live each day for him. Remember to always give God the glory in everything I do.
